We’re looking for a Senior Engineer to join American Express @ Work core capability management team, which will design and build next generation cloud native capabilities to support the digital and data experience. This team will work across other @ Work capability teams on integration and common component builds. We want someone with strong technical skills, able to design and architect cloud native, self-service systems, hands-on delivery of those components, contribute and collaborate with enterprise shared service teams with creativity and outside-in perspective. You should be able to lead with an automation, engineering excellence and efficiency mindset and guide teams. You should hold the technical quality bar high, enjoy solving tough problems and innovate efficiently by working with new technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development

· Perform technical aspects of software development

· Function as a leader on a software engineering team by contributing to software builds through consistent development practices (tools, common components, and documentation)

· Lead code reviews and automated testing

· Debug software components and identify code defects for remediation

· Leads the deployment, support, and monitoring of software across test, integration, and production environments.

· Empower teams to automate deployments in test or production environments

· Empower teams to automatically scale applications based on demand projections

· Ensure team adheres to security and regulatory best practices

Leadership

· Takes accountability for the success of the team achieving their goals

· Drives the team’s strategy and prioritizes initiatives

· Influence team members by challenging status quo, demonstrating risk taking, and implementing creative ideas

· Be a productivity multiplier for your team by analyzing your workflow and contributing to enable the team to be more effective, productive, and demonstrating faster and stronger results.

· Mentor and guide team members to success within the team

Qualifications:

· 6+ years of software development experience in a professional environment and/or comparable experience

· Extensive hands-on experience with the design and development of complex, large scale distributed applications and products that require a deep understanding of architectural patterns, software development best practices, relational and non-relational databases, and automated testing

· Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, computer science engineering, or related experience required; advanced degree preferred

· Hands-on coding experience in the following technology environment - React, Redux, Angular, NodeJS, GraphQL, REST based APIs, Java, Spring, Kotlin, GoLang, Couchbase, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, DB2, Akamai, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
